Sanctum
Fushimi Inari-Taisha | Kyoto, Japan Japan is one of if not my favorite place to visit. I was excited to explore Kyoto and take some shots of orange toriis, but I didn't know the beautiful Fushimi Inari-Taisha had so much more to showcase. You can definitely spend the entire day finding gems like this and emersing yourself in the history.

Fushimi Inari | Kyoto, Japan The orange torii gates at Fushimi Inari Taisha are many and great. Some of the stretches are seemingly endless. It's a very popular spot so there are lots of people exploring the mountain. Trying to get a shot like this took some patience for it to clear up but it paid off!
Neon Labryinth 1
Golden Gai | Tokyo, Japan We happened to be in Tokyo during the Rugby World Cup and the city was obviously buzzing. Drinking and celebrating was in full force around the Golden Gai area. We crammed ourselves into one or two bars but drifting through the maze of alleyways was an experience itself.

Golden Pavilion
Kinkaku-ji | Kyoto, Japan Kyoto has so many great sites and this temple is certainly one you must visit. The grounds surrounding the temple are lovely and the temple itself it all its golden glory is quite impressive.
Memories
Okunoin Temple | Koyasan, Japan Happy New Year all! Hope everyone's year is starting off on the right foot. Shots from a new trip are always prime candidates to work on, but this year I'm digging through my catalog to find some hidden gems I missed the first round. Japan is easily one of my most favorite places. Make time to get to Koyasan. It offers you the opportunity to stay amongst the Buddhist monks and visit Japan's largest cemetery. This place isn't about the destination, it's a journey.
Skyscrapers
Arashiyama Bamboo Forest | Kyoto, Japan The Sagano Bamboo Forest in Arashiyama is world-renowned for good reason. When looking down the endless path of bamboo, it's easy to be amazed at how high they tower above. For me, it was staring up at various angles where your perspective becomes skewed and they feel so much taller. I always have fun making panoramas and my hope was this captured a bit of that sensation when staring up from the middle of the path.
Crossroads
Shijo-dori | Kyoto, Japan I don't photo carlight trails enough and I wish I did! We were wandering around a nearby temple and came upon this intersection. I'd taken my fair share of temple pictures at this point and needed something new. It proved to be a great exercise in practicing night shooting for me and managed to capture a few interesting shots in the process.
Evening Stroll
Hōkan-ji Temple | Kyoto, Japan The Higashiyama district of Kyoto is a magical place. It's the perfect area to stay in and casual wandering of the streets at night afford you the opportunity to discover all sorts of temples and shrines. I wish I'd come back to take this shot during the day time but your agenda gets pretty packed when you're in Kyoto.

Osaka | Japan This is the Hōzenji Temple in Osaka. I have a few more lantern shots across Japan but these are some of my favorites. The textures of the construction of the various lanterns I find intriguing and fun to shoot.
Radiant Rays
Fushimi Inari | Kyoto, Japan Exploring the endless orange torii gates is what attracted me to Fushimi Inari Taisha. I was pleasantly surprised to find out the mountain the shrine sits on was much bigger and quite the challenge to hike. It had been overcast most of the day. I luckily managed to reach the Yotsutsuji intersection just as the sun was beaming through over the city.
Bed of Clouds
Mount Fuji Summit | Mount Fuji, Japan It was at the very end of the official climbing season, but Mt Fuji was an absolute must for me. I decided to take a slightly different approach and climb up the Fujinomiya Trail and down the popular Yoshida Trail. I made it to the summit before sunset. Looking out above the clouds as it starts to get darker, it's such a peaceful setting after a long day's hike.

Shinjuku | Tokyo, Japan One of the more impressive neon signs in Shinjuku I came across. Was supposed to be taking a picture of my wife snuck a few additional shots in!
